How to add Hinovision NVR on 

Milestone XProtect Platform?

Hinovision NVRs are compatible with Milestone XProtect platform and can be added to Milestone XProtect via ONVIF protocol. 


Once added, Milestone XProtect will be able to receive live video stream from Hinovision NVR. NVR configuration and onboard storage playback are not yet supported with Milestone XProtect platform. Recording can be achieved with XProtect recording Server, Recording files are stored on Milestone workstation (Not on NVR).


NVR configuration can be accessed through Web Interface or Hinovision iVMS-Pro/Lite client software.


Test Environment 

NVR Model: NVR516P16-I4

NVR Firmware: V3.4.82 build 161207

Milestone XProtect Version: Milestone XProtect Profession 2016 R3 Ver.10.2a build 1654



  1. Open Milestone XProtect Management Application, Right click on Hardware Device and click on Add New Hardware Device




  1. Click on Manually specify the hardware to add



  1. Enter the IP address of the NVR you wish to add,  Port Number (80), User Name and Password, Select ONVIF Conformant Device (2-16 channels) as Driver, Repeat this step if you want to add multiple NVRs, then Click Next



Note:

You have to first Configure NVR before adding it to Milestone Platform

Default NVR User Name: admin

Default NVR Password: 12345

Always save the Password for future reference

  1. Make sure the statuses of all NVRs you wish to connect are showed as connected, and then click Next.



  1. Your Devices are ready to use, Click on OK to exit.




  1. You will find the NVR in the Hardware Device Summary



  1. Save before you exit the Milestone XProtect Management Application



  1. After configuration, you will be able to view NVR Live View from Milestone XProtect Smart Client



  1. For recording, you will need you use XProtect recording Server, it can be configured from Milestone XProtect Management Application. Once you opened it, right click on camera you wish to configure.




  1. Configure the following settings according to your requirement
